2016 Committee


Arun and Deepa Rao are originally from Bombay. They lived in the Bay Area in 1997, subsequently moved to Kansas and returned to Cupertino in 2005. They have two children Divya (14 years) and Aditya (11 years) who are Junior Olympic swimmers. Their passion is music, sports and dance. Arun is a Director in a software company and Deepa is in stock portfolios. Arun greatly enjoys outdoor activities like skiing, swimming, windsurfing and scuba diving. Deepa’s hobbies are table tennis, badminton, ice skating, dancing and mathematics. They have been actively involved in KAOCA since 2005 and have participated in the 2008 Santa Clara and 2012 New Jersey, Konkani Sammelans. Arun and Deepa are looking forward to leading the 2016 KAOCA committee to bring the best of food, entertainment and talent from the bay area Konkani community.

Chandana and Chaitanya are living in the Bay Area for over a decade. They are software professionals and are blessed with 2 lovely kids. This is their third time as a part of the KAOCA committee and they look forward to be actively involved in all its activities. They love the Konkani language and enjoy the awesome Konkani food!

Chethana and Vasanth Shenoy have lived in the bay area since late 1990s. They both love to travel and experience different types of cuisine. They have two kids Nina and Nikhil. Nina is a good Piano Player. Nikhil loves swimming and soccer. This is their 4th time in the KAOCA Committee.

Gowtham & Shreya Kamath: Gowtam moved to the USA in 2014. He works as System Analyst. Shreya was practicing as a dentist in Mangalore before she moved to the USA in 2016 as a newly wed.They like music, movies, dance and badminton.

Kumuda & VP Shenoy have lived in the BAY area since 1983! We moved to CA after graduating from University of Cincinnati, VP with his PhD in Electrical Engineering and I with my Master's in Analytical Chemistry. We have three kids, Chaitra, Chetan and Vikram and two grandkids, Gowri (4yrs) and Kaveri (2yrs). Chaitra is a lawyer settled with her two kids and husband in DC, Chetan is a CTO of his start up also living in DC and Vikram is doing his PhD in Medicinal Chemistry at U.of Michigan Ann Arbor. VP was one of the founding father of KAOCA!! I still remember our first meeting in San Leandro temple (33-35 families) where we served authentic amchi food that included PATHRADO! VP single handedly managed Panchadik for 11 years!!KAOCA has been lot of fun. We are overwhelmed to see KAOCA's growth and are looking forward to working with you all in whatever capacity we can!

Lata Kini:

Madhuri and Vandan Nayak are Mumbaikars at heart and have been living together in the Bay area since 2003. Madhuri led the vendor management team at a multi national bank in Mumbai. She is an avid baker, enjoys singing and is passionate about fine arts. Vandan is currently a product management executive leading a portfolio transformation for enterprise suite offering. They have two daughters Ananya and Aahana who are still in elementary school and enjoy hiking, dancing and travelling to new places. This is their first year as Kaoca commitee and look forward to enjoying this experience!

Madhuri Kasbekar

Venugopal and Mangala Pai moved back to the Bay Area in early 1998 from Australia. Venugopal works in sales for a tech company (he is into sports and loves travel) while Mangala is a pharmacist by profession, with an enthusiam for Indian classical dance. They have two daughters, Aisha (18 years) and Namya (15 years) and both girls love sports and dancing. They both represented their school in volleyball for the varsity and junior varsity teams respectively.

Nandini and Shivaram Bijoor moved to Bay Area from Seattle last year. They are happy to be around a large Konkani community. They came to this country in 1977. Nandini works at the local school district. Nandini has 2 daughters living in this area and 2 grandsons. She enjoys her spare time with the grandchildren.

Vanditha and Nithin Pai moved from Panemangalore to California in 2010. Vanditha is a Biotechnologist and Nithin is a Sr. Software Engineer working in a company that thinks different. This fun loving couple has a 2 year old cute daughter Urvi. Nithin likes to play cricket, volleyball and badminton and takes pictures during KAOCA events, while Vanditha likes to sing, dance and travel.

Pronob Ashwin:

Radha and Anup Netrawali have lived in the Bay area since 2009, prior to which they lived in Michigan for ~9 years. They have a 10 year old son Aarnith who loves western music and sports. Anup & Radha had participated in the 2006 Konkani Sammelan in Toronto, Canada where Radha won the best female solo performer award and they have been actively involved in KAOCA since 2012 . Anup loves reading books, listening to music, draw/sketch, write articles, watch movies,  documentaries and Radha is an avid music lover who has completed her Visharad in Hindustani Classical music. Radha has also performed on All India Radio during her "earlier" life.

Ranjitha Pai and Naresh Kamath are engaged, they are getting married this March in Mangalore, India.Ranjitha Pai works as a software consultant in a MNC. She hails from Mangalore and moved to bay area in 2012 . She loves reading books, hiking, listening to music, playing with cats and watching movies. This is her first year as a committee member.Originally from Manipal. Naresh moved to the bay area in 2013 after finishing his Master's at USC in Los Angeles. He is a hardware engineer with a leading fabless semi-conductor company. His hobbies include cooking Konkani food, going on long drives, listening to music, spending time with family among other things. Ranjitha Pai and Naresh Kamath are engaged, they are getting married this March in Mangalore, India.

Shilpa and Santosh Sajip have lived in the bay area since 1998. Shilpa works as a research associate for a bio-pharmaceutical company and Santosh is a senior engineer at a software company.Santosh teaches tabla, likes to play badminton and is an avid Warriors fan. Shilpa likes reading, cooking and gardening. They have a 6 year old daughter Avani who loves to sing. They were in the Konkani sammelan committee in 2008 and have been in the KAOCA 2001 and 2008 committees.

Shilpa and Raghavendra Pai have lived in the bay area since 2009. Raghu works as a Solution Architect and Shilpa is a homemaker. They have a 4 yr old daughter pavani who loves dancing .Raghu likes playing badminton and tt & Shilpa likes cooking and gardening. This is their 2nd time in the KAOCA Committee.

Sudee Pai Sudheendra is living with his family and working in bay area for 6+ years, he is actively involved with Kaoca for more than 4 years. Sudheendra is interested in trekking, reading, philanthropic activities and volunteering for community activities

Sujatha & Shivaram Kochikar Pai are originally from Mangalore. They moved from New York to Houston in 2003. In 2012, Sujatha's work brought her to the Bay area. She worked as a vice president (Medical Physicist) for a public company in healthcare. She is currently engaged in setting up a consulting company. Shivaram is a technology advisor for an energy company in Houston. They enjoy travelling, watching movies, listening to music and healthy cooking. Their son Sunil is currently doing his master’s in CS at Stanford. He is an avid researcher and was awarded Davidson fellowship. Sunil was honored by president Obama at the White House in 2011 as he was the Intel STS Finalist. He loves college/professional sports, enjoys konkani food and listening to music.

Sumana and Suresh Pai have lived in the Bay area since 2004. They have a son, Suhas and a daughter, Sunayana both in their early teens. Suhas enjoys playing the sitar, tennis and computer programming. Sunayana loves classical dance, hindustani music, volleyball, gymnastics, and cooking. Suresh is a software professional while Sumana is a physicist and practices patent law. Both love cooking healthy food.

Uma and Dinkar Hoskote: Originally from Mumbai, Uma and Dinkar Hoskote have lived in the Bay area for over 15 years. Uma works in Finance for a pharma company and Dinkar is a Program manager for a software company.Dinkar is a sports enthusiast while Uma loves reading, travel and experimenting with global cuisines. They have one daughter Mekhala who is a junior at UC Berkeley majoring in Public Health. In addition to being an accomplished Odissi dancer, Mekhala is actively involved with Model UN and UNICEF at Cal and also writes articles for the Berkeley Political Review. The Hoskotes are first timers on the KAOCA committee and are looking forward to the experience.

Vidya and Vinayak Shenoi have been living in the bay area over a decade. They have two lovely children Adit (10) and Rhea (6). As a family, true to their 'amchigel' roots, they share a common passion for food, be it cooking or tasting different cuisines! They love to spend time with family and friends, listening to any kind of good music, watching movies, travelling, sports and socializing. Vinayak has been training in Hindustani classical singing and loves playing chess. Vidya and kids have been learning Odissi - one of India's 8 classical dance forms. While Adit is into reading books, electronics and soccer, their little one Rhea, enjoys gymnastics, dancing and painting. Vidya works as an IT Project Manager and Vinayak works as a Software Architect.
