EXPLANATION OF POLICIES FOR VIDEOGRAPHING AND PHOTOGRAPHING

After receiving some concerns and questions from KAOCA members about not being able to use personal video cameras in the auditorium, the KAOCA Committee re-evaluated the policies for videographing with the Theatre Management and have prepared the following Revised Rules and Regulations which will allow videographing on a limited basis.    However, we feel that you all deserve an explanation.   Earlier, the main reason for banning personal video cameras, was that people start putting tripods in the front of the auditorium and in the aisles which is not only a visual barrier to the audience but also a safety hazard in the aisles which have to be kept open at all time for emergency exits.  The Theatre Management is very strict about this issue due to obvious liability reasons.  We were able to negotiate some compromise rules with the Theatre management.  The Revised Rules are shown below.
Secondly, KAOCA has hired a professional videographer to tape the entire day’s programs.  A professional DVD will be prepared and be available to everyone for a very nominal price (no-profit price).  In fact we have another Commemorative DVD of snippets of program from the previous 25 years which will also be available for sale.  The set of 2 DVDs (Commemorative DVD with past programs and the DVD of the Silver Jubilee Celebration) will be available for $10.00 per set upon placing orders and making payment by December 1stPlace orders with and make payments to Murali Kamath during Lunch, Tannik and Dinner on October 24th.

REVISED RULES FOR VIDEOGRAPHING AND PHOTOGRAPHING INSIDE THE AUDITORIUM
1. Theatre Management ushers will be there to enforce the following rules.
2. Video camera tripods are to be placed only in designated areas at the rear corners on either side of the auditorium (near the left and right entrances to the auditorium hall).
3. No tripods will be allowed in the front of the theatre or in the aisles except the tripod for the professional Videographer hired to the take videos and photographs of the event.
4. No sitting on the steps in the aisles to take videos or photographs.  (Keep exits clear rule).  Also no standing up in your seats to take videos or pictures while the program is going on.
5. No flash photography in the theatre while the performances are going on.  You may take pictures without flash.
6. None of these rules apply outside the auditorium ie. In the Lobby.  You may take as many pictures or videos of family and friends in the Theatre Lobby, outside grounds and Banquet (Dining) Hall.

WE HOPE YOU UNDERSTAND OUR POSITION AND WE THANK YOU FOR YOUR COOPERATION.
With Best Wishes From The 2009 KAOCA Committee
